General
Before using dAmn in general you are expected to know your basic way around the
Chat Network Policies and
Proper Etiquette of deviantART. Violating the rules listed there will cause big problems for you as any insult to these rules are taken seriously.

Don't spam. Don't flood. Don't use a lot of emotes or really big ones. Don't advertise (without asking a Roomie). Don't overuse
bold or
italics. Don't leave massive away messages. Don't swear a lot. A little bit is fine.

#WriteRoom is an English chatroom only. We know that a lot of people speak different languages, but we don't. Speaking in a language that almost nobody understands will not contribute to a discussion and the mods can't moderate it. Greetings etc. in other languages is fine, just know your limits. If you need help with your English mods will be happy to help and pass on translators.

~participle is the only bot currently permitted in
#WriteRoom. If you want to bring in your own bot consult *
aughters.

We are writers. Talk like intelligent (& literate) people.
Chatspeak will be given the

face (translation: we will probably kick you.) "cuz" is fine in moderation.

Again, we're writers. We accept anyone who is interested in writing. All genres and skill levels are welcome, even if you have not written anything before. Many people in the room may be able to help you getting your work known also.

Discussions of non writing topics are okay and are actually the usual fare here. If somebody comes in and asks for opinions or critique on something they've written, you're expected to help out, but otherwise you lemmings can talk about what you wish (within reason).

In case of heated discussion, conduct yourself like a respectable member of society. Any insults between parties in arguments will be taken severely. Also ad hominem will result in kicking. If you don't know what ad hominem is, look it up.

Don't backseat mod. If none of the mods are present, tab one. Do not yell at trolls as this only encourages them and makes you a prime target. The mods are there so that you aren't a target. Please remember this.

If you have been banned/boxed and you feel it's unjust, note a Roomie. Do NOT rejoin the room with an alternate account. This will be taken as malicious and will extend your ban; no exceptions.
Groups
We have a bunch of different writing groups in the chat. These are just to organize frequent users. To be placed in a group all you need to do is as follows: "@putme (insert group name)". The groups are as follows: Editing, Poetry, Prose, Both & Neither. If participle, our bot, is not around to do process please send a Roomie the request. "Roomie, may you please put me in (insert group name)".

Roomies is the moderator group. Send incluye a note to request a position as a Roomie. We hire Roomies in no particular order at no particular time.
Rule violations
If you have fallen foul of the rules you will first be warned. At the next rule break you will be kicked and then after that banned/boxed. Some rules are, of course, seen as more important than others. Please take into account that most mods will wipe the slate clean as it were with each session. The mods will not however forget entirely about any action taken whatever it may be.

If a Roomie tells you to knock it off, comply. Do not tell the Roomie to blow it out his or her (or otherwise's) ass. This has happened before. Treat the Roomies with respect as you would treat authority figures in real life, unless you don't treat authority figures in real life with respect, in which case ooh, you edgy rebel, you.

If the moderators have been random dicks to you, send incluye a note. Try to include a paste (or a link to one) of the offending lines in the chat. Sometimes this happens or misunderstandings occur. The all-knowing Presider will be able to put things right.

incluye sometimes violates the rules. This is okay because he has an innate, highly refined sense of irony and self referential humor.
