10 (who?)

:bulletred: Before using dAmn in general you are expected to know your basic way around the Chat Network Policies and Proper Etiquette of deviantART. Violating the rules listed there will cause big problems for you as any insult to these rules are taken seriously.

:bulletred: Don't spam. Don't flood. Don't use a lot of emotes or really big ones. Don't advertise (without asking a Roomie). Don't overuse bold or italics, and don't overruse the CAPS. Don't leave massive away messages. Don't swear a lot. A little bit is fine.

:bulletred: #WriteRoom is an English chatroom only. We know that a lot of people speak different languages, but we don't. Speaking in a language that almost nobody understands will not contribute to a discussion and the mods can't moderate it. Greetings etc. in other languages is fine, just know your limits. If you need help with your English send a note to the moderators and they will get back to you with translators.

:bulletred: InnerEditor & participle are the only bots currently permitted in the chatrrom. If you want to bring in your own bot consult The-Monoblos to present your argument.

:bulletred: We are writers. Talk like intelligent (& literate) people. Chatspeak
will be given the :| face (translation: we will probably kick you.) "cuz" and "lol" are fine in moderation.

:bulletred: Again, we're writers. We accept anyone who is interested in writing. All genres and skill levels are welcome, even if you have not written anything before. Many people in the room may be able to help you getting your work known also.

:bulletred: Discussions of non writing topics are okay and are actually the usual fare here. If somebody comes in and asks for opinions or critique on something they've written, you're expected to help out, but otherwise you lemmings can talk about what you wish (within reason).

:bulletred: In case of a heated discussion, conduct yourself like a respectable member of society. Any insults between parties in arguments will be taken severely. It should go without saying, any insults at all are treated severely. Also ad hominem will result in kicking. If you don't know what ad hominem is, look it up.

:bulletred: Don't backseat mod, more often than not it only prolongs the problem. If the mods are away from their screen, tab one. If the mods are asleep then take a screenshot, or quote the problem and send one in a note to a mod (if this is the case ask other users who are around to also back up your note). Above all, do not yell at trolls as this only encourages them and makes you a prime target. The mods are there so that you aren't a target. Please remember this.

:bulletred: If you have been banned/boxed and you feel it's unjust, note The-Monoblos to present your case (taking screeenshots of why you were banned will help but don't rely on them). Do NOT rejoin the room with an alternate account. This will be taken as malicious and will extend your ban; no exceptions.

:bulletgreen: We have a bunch of different writing groups in the chat. These are just to organize frequent users. To be placed in a group all you need to do is as follows: "@putme (insert group name)". The groups are as follows: Editing, Poetry, Prose, Both & Neither. If InnerEditor, our bot, is not around to do process please send an Admin or Roomie the request: "Admin/Roomie, may you please put me in (insert group name)?".

:bulletgreen: Roomies is the moderator group. Send The-Monoblos a note to request a position as a Roomie if you feel up to it. We hire Roomies in no particular order at no particular time.

Rule violations

:bulletblue: If you have fallen foul of the rules you will first be warned. At the next rule break you will be kicked and then after that banned/boxed. Some rules are, of course, seen as more important than others. Please take into account that most mods will wipe the slate clean as it were with each session. The mods will not however forget entirely about action taken whatever it may be. As such, if you gain a rap-sheet of bad behavior over time then you will become more likely to get issued a ban.

:bulletblue: If a Roomie tells you to knock it off, comply. Do not tell the Roomie to blow it out his or her (or otherwise's) ass. This has happened before - it will not help your case, at all. Treat the Roomies with respect as you would treat authority figures in real life, unless you don't treat authority figures in real life with respect, in which case ooh, you edgy rebel, you.

:bulletblue: If the moderators have been random dicks to you, send The-Monoblos a note (screenshots again helpful here). Try to include a paste (or a link to one) of the offending lines in the chat. Sometimes this happens or misunderstandings occur. The all-knowing Admins will be able to put things right.

The rules state nowhere whether it is allowed to ignore a roomie. Is it a bannable offense?
Wouldn't suggest it, as if a Roomie tries to warn you for foul behavior and you don't see the warning because you ignored them, they'll just ban you. :B
