A January Update ( #WritersInk's Write-off)

It has been a while since the last group update so, firstly, hello to all. It's a bit late too but we hope you all had a great winter break and new year and also look forward to a fantastic year of more literature.

It's about time that we announced the winner of our very first contest. Unfortunately our prose contest just did not receive the number of submissions able to judge and decide the winners. It's a great shame and the contest for prose has gained no winners. Everyone who submitted to Prose will be given 100 points of commiseration from The-Monoblos's personal funds.
And now onto the Poetry contest, where the winners were decided (all thanks for the judging of the competition goes to Malintra-Shadowmoon):
3rd place: Love Abstract, written by The-Dormant-Sprite (100 devpoints)
2nd place: Rain, written by ThisAvidPoet (1 month premium)
& in 1st place: Homeless Girl, written by ZakesCorner (3 months premium)

Second I would like to remind people about the submission process we employ. Firstly we are completely a literature based group. We do NOT accept drawings, paintings, digital artworks, photographs or photo-manipulations. Even if a photo includes a signpost in it or has a text overlay it does not make it literature - it remains a photo-manipulation and we cannot accept it.
Next we have fan-fictions. All fan-fictions require a disclaimer else we can not accept them. Recently I've been asked what a disclaimer actually is by a number of people. You must state that you do not own the original concept - ie: that you do not own Pokémon or Zelda or anything really. You must also say who does own it, both in your author's comments. This is all that we need at WriteRoomies. Many groups and many real life situations require more vigorous disclaimer's but we're actually quite lax.

UPDATE(28.01.13):
One of our affiliated groups, WritersInk, had an amazing contest earlier in the week which I was very happy to see a number of WriteRoomie’s attending. The competition, a monthly event for all who know WritersInk was their write-off in which four (in yesterday’s case an amazing five) rounds of prompts are given to the massed literature enthusiasts and by the end of each 20 minute round everyone who wants to compete sends in their entry and gains a chance of winning a number of prizes, including three months of premium membership. It’s a great way to get rid of writers block and is a fantastically social affair and if you’re reading this out loud that was a mouthful.
:bullletgreen: On behalf of WriteRoomies & #WriteRoom I’d like to say a big thankyou to everyone from #WritersInk and those who, on the day, were there to run the event but I’d especially like to thank the following people for organising the event and allowing everyone from #WriteRoom to swamp them: monstroooo, Sleyf & BrokenTales.
I’d also like to say thankyou to all the WriteRoomie’s either participating or just turning up for a good time at any point throughout the event, even if it was just for 30 seconds. It was a pleasure to see many of you there.
